How can I make this easy?
Do you ever see people who seem to be everywhere promoting their business? It comes simply and naturally. They make it look easy.
I used to wonder how I could do the same. How could I make marketing a priority when there were sooo many other things to do in my business and for my clients?
When we feel overwhelmed we can often look at things and over complicate them, so much to the point that we will never get them done.
But now I try and think...
‘How can I make this easy?’
And I use it for everything!
My car has been a mess since I moved here. That’s over 2 1/2 years ago.
In my head it’s a massive task, always moving from one to do list to the next, but yesterday I’d had enough. I thought to myself, what would make this easy?
So I got a black bin bag, set a timer for 10 minutes and cleared it out. It took less than 10 minutes (but you knew I’d say that!) and it was done.
The same thing happened for my newsletter.
It took me 4 years to start my Social Sunday Newsletter, I thought it would be a massive job. But then I thought…
How can I make this easy?
I asked Tom for help making the header. I used mailchimp because it’s simple, and everything else I Googled.
An hour later it was up and running.
When I feel overwhelmed and the thought of cooking is too much, what would make it easy? Getting a takeaway or a ready meal.
When the house is a mess and it’s getting on top of me, what would make it easy? One room at a time, half an hour at a time until it’s done.
What’s stopping you from marketing your business?
How can you make it easy?
If you want to start a blog, how can you make it easy enough for you to try.
- Could you copy a popular Facebook post? Would that be easy enough?
- Could you ask someone to set up your blog?
- Could you set a timer and write for 10 minutes?
Keep going until you’ve reached a point where it’s so easy, it would take you more time to think of another excuse than it would to just do it!
Marketing can be easy. Marketing can be fun.
Today every time you feel overwhelmed by your to do list or a task just ask yourself, how can I make this easy?
