How I doubled my email list using Flodesk

I love emails. I love writing them and (maybe an unpopular opinion) I love reading them too.
Emails are a huge part of my business and it’s something that I help the members of my marketing membership The Best 90 Days Ever with too.
The one thing that has made email marketing so much easier within my business is finding the right platform to use, and for me that is Flodesk (aff link throughout blog).
I joined Flodesk two and a half years ago with the goal of growing my email list. I’d previously been using a different platform and even used to run a course on how to get started with it. It was perfect to get going, but I knew that if I wanted my business to grow my email marketing was going to have to change with it.
For the last couple of years one of my main aims with my marketing has been to grow my email list and luckily Flodesk is set up to help with that.
In the time that I’ve been a Flodesk partner I’ve doubled my email list each year and in this blog post I’m going to walk you through how it has helped me to do that!
Sending more emails
My main reason for moving over to Flodesk was to send more emails and increase the speed that I could get them out. I used to email my whole list every Sunday through my newsletter The Social Sunday.
I loved romanticising writing my emails, sitting down with a cup of tea and talking to the people who had signed up to hear from me. I did that for a long time, and while this helped me to build the consistency of email, it was limiting when I wanted to email with quicker updates or speak to a specific segment of my list. Sometimes your news can’t wait for a Sunday, but it wasn’t called The Social Wednesday!
Every Flodesk plan comes with unlimited emails so there’s no barriers holding you back and you can increase your consistency which gives your subscribers more reason to sign up. Sending more emails is not a bad thing! Especially when they are as well designed and quick to make as the ones you can create in Flodesk.
The templates for emails and forms mean you can get set up and ready to send within minutes but they are really simple to make your own and fit your branding. Speed for me is really important. I know that if something feels like a huge job that is going to take hours then I’m much less likely to do it.
I’ve even timed how long it took me to set up a free lead magnet and it was under 5 minutes!
Using more forms
I love getting creative with my lead magnets which gives my audience a really good reason to sign up for my list and this is made so much easier using forms in Flodesk.
Forms are individual pages that you set up and you can link to a specific segment of your email list. You get unlimited forms with all your plans which means you can keep creating and testing to see what works. Some of the forms I have created to grow my email list include my Christmas Content Workshop, Social Media Sports Day, Trello templates, waitlists and even an advent calendar.

On a previous platform, I used to worry about getting the idea right because my account was limited. But with Flodesk I can experiment and have fun with forms without feeling like I need to delete one before I can move onto the next.
Using forms to get my ideas out quickly has been one of the key reasons my email list has grown so much. If we’ve met before you’ll know I like to act quickly on my ideas and being able to go from idea to form to sign up faster than it takes to drink my cup of tea has really helped.
Key launch features
The big game changer for me has been how Flodesk has impacted my launches. Once you’ve got your regular emails sorted you can start to look at how you use emails to sell your offers. There are several features which I’ve noticed having a big increase in the number of subscribers and sales I get over my launch. Link actions
Your best lead magnets and workshops aren’t just for new subscribers. You can add in a link action to your email so current subscribers can also join your segment and receive your new offer. It’s a great way to say thank you for being on your list but also segment people who are already there. I often share the waitlist for my marketing membership The Best 90 Days Ever so subscribers who might have missed it can join again. Having a one click option makes it so quick and easy and it’s a great way to find out more about your subscribers. I’ve asked people to let me know if they are product or service businesses so I can customise what I’m sending them and make it more specific.
Countdown timers and polls
Flodesk has lots of interactive elements that can help make your emails more engaging. A countdown timer is a really visual reminder that a launch is ending or a workshop is happening soon! You can add these straight from Flodesk too so there’s no integration with a third party.
Another feature I’ve used and love to see other people using is polls. Ask questions, get your audience to vote on topics and give them something to do as they read your emails. It will make it so much more memorable.
Integration with Teachery and other platforms
I was so excited that Flodesk could integrate with Teachery! Teachery is the platform I use for my membership and courses and is run by the brilliant Caroline and Jason Zook.
My emails are now linked straight to Teachery, so when someone signs up for The Best 90 Days Ever they are sent the email with all the details right away.
Flodesk has integrations with lots of different platforms and there are more coming soon so you can cut out the third party and know that all your platforms are linked directly.
Flodesk is the email platform I recommend to the businesses I work with because it’s simple and fast but it still looks good. Having an email that you can get out quickly not only means you’re going to be communicating with your audience more but it helps your content to perform better too.
I love being a Flodesk partner and I’m looking forward to doubling my email list again this year. Use my code to get 25% off your first year of Flodesk! https://flodesk.com/c/3IG8K6
