Happy Valentine's Day!
You either love it or you hate it, but I’m a big fan of Valentine’s Day, especially while there’s not much else going on. Bring on the cards and a nice steak this evening because I'll take any excuse to celebrate! While I sit here eating my Cocoa Therapy chocolates, instead of getting soppy with you I want to share some practical ways you can show your business some love this Valentine’s Day!
1. Stop doing things you don’t like There's a difference between doing things that you don’t find interesting and forcing yourself to do things you don’t like and feel inauthentic to you. Stop doing things you don’t like and spend more time on the things you do like instead!
I stopped going on Twitter and started to blog
I hated doing Facebook Lives, so I started a newsletter
I don’t want to do pointy reels, so I’ll do some funny ones instead
Find the marketing that you love doing and it will feel so much easier to promote your business. 2. Share the love and share the stories I love surrounding myself with other people that run their own business too. Share the love with your small business friends, but also share your stories. If you’ve learnt something the hard way then let others know, if you’ve found something that works amazingly, share that too. They say a problem shared is a problem halved and I bet there’s someone else out there who’s been through what you’re going through and got the t-shirt! 3. Give yourself the gift of time Almost everyone I speak to says they wish they had more, or things took less time. If you can, give yourself the gift of an afternoon to work on your business. Make a list of all the things you never get round to doing, like sorting out the error on your website, or uploading the blog you wrote 3 months ago and get to work updating them. Here’s a secret… I bet they will all take so much less time than you think! 4. Invest in yourself Get that book you’ve been looking at, invest in a social scheduler if it will save you time, treat yourself to the Six Week Marketing Fix (come on you knew that was coming!) and if you can, give a gift to your business this month. I felt stuck and uninspired last year so I invested in a coach and it was the best thing I could have done. If things are tough at the moment there is so much free support too, investing in some time to look will be well worth it.
